The stroke of the compressor plate is adjusted by controlling the driving chamber pressure. A first connection (2) from the high pressure zone (3) to the driving chamber pressure zone (4) is influenced by a first valve element (8,9), and a second connection (5) from driving chamber pressure zone to intake pressure zone (6) is influenced by a second valve element (11,12). First and/or second valve element are mainly leakage-free when closed. Both valve elements are seat valves, and are contained in the valve device, which has three switch positions.
