METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AN INFORMATION APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE

A method and apparatus for a user preference information application programming interface (API) is provided. The informational profile of a user (1) is integrated into the user's Internet environment in a robust client-side portal application supported by an information API computer server. Integration is accomplished by user preference monitoring and storage/retrieval of such profile information. The user's Internet Service Provider (3) or a third-party application server (4) to which the user has "surfed" can interject the user information profile by contact with the information API computer server. Security is assured by a number of measures such as authentication of an ID/password combination.
