A fuse element (5) is connected parallel to the load (4) such that the fuse element acts as a shunt resistor. An evaluation unit (9) calculates the load current based on the voltage difference at the ends of the fuse element and the average of the fuse temperature measured by a sensor (10). An Independent claim is also included for load current measuring device.
