PURPOSE: A system and a method for recognizing text and photo of an identification card are provided to process an obtainment and keeping of customer personal information by databasing the automatically recognized records and image information according to a kind of identification card. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises an image inputting device(10), a control data line(25) and a recognition processor(20). The inputting device obtains the both sides image information of identification card under control of the recognition processor and transmits to the recognition processor. The recognition processor divides the image information into a text and image information, reads each information, and makes and manages a database with the read information. The image inputting device includes a front image picturing device(11), a back image picturing device(14), a fixing table(13), a light(16) and a light scattering device(15). The front and back picturing device such as a CCD camera, a PC camera and a scanner is for obtaining a digital information for the identification card, and simultaneously operates under control of the recognition processor and transmits the pictured image information to the recognition processor by connecting to the recognition processor through the control data line.
