<p>A propulsion system for a vehicle (1) includes an electric motor (2) mounted on the vehicle. The electric motor (2) through gearing drives a pair of radially extending arms (5, 6) in opposite senses about a common axis (8). Each arm (5, 6) carries respective impeller body (3, 4) at its distal end. When the bodies (3, 4) are displaced by the arms (5, 6) they oscillate back and forth along an arcuate path subtending 180° and in opposite senses to each other. The net centrifugal forces generated will generally drive the vehicle in a direction at right angles to the axis (8) and intersecting the arcuate path.</p> |
