A ribbon cassette capable of being prevented from rising during printing and a tape printer having the ribbon cassette loaded therein, wherein a ribbon spool (131) having the ink ribbon (130) wound thereon so that the print surface thereof faces outward is stored rotatably in the ribbon storage part (118) of the ribbon cassette (71), a ribbon wind-up spool (132) having the tip part of the ink ribbon (130) fixed thereto is stored rotatably in the ribbon wind-up storage part (119) of the ribbon cassette (71) and, when characters are printed on a roll sheet (10), a ribbon wind-up gear (108) installed at the axial one end of the ribbon wind-up spool (132) is drivingly rotated through a ribbon clutch gear (107B), and the ink ribbon (130) is wound up on the ribbon wind-up spool (132) so that the print surface thereof faces inward. |
