The invention relates to the use of a substance for detecting CD95 and/or CD95L, or members of the signal transduction cascade of CD95 and/or CD95L, in order to identify susceptibility to diseases that are related to an infection. The invention also relates to the use of an active substance for preventing and treating infections, in particular, bacterial infections, whereby said active substance influences the expression and/or function of CD95 and/or CD95L, or members of the signal transduction cascade of CD95 and/or CD95L, thereby inducing apoptosis in the infected cells. |
