The secateurs comprise a blade (1) and a back blade (2) each fixed to a handle and pivoted about a threaded spindle (10) on which the blades are clamped by a nut (3). The nut rotates integrally with a toothed wheel (4) meshing with a toothed braking pinion (5) fixed on the back blade by a locking screw (6). The toothed wheel has an axial opening (11) the contour of which corresponds with the external contour (13) of the clamping nut and is inserted around the nut. The pinion together with the toothed wheel retain the toothed wheel around the nut against any axial displacement when the pinion is meshed with the wheel.
