TWO-DIMENSIONAL RADIATION AND NEUTRON IMAGE DETECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-dimensional radiation detector and a neutron image detector combining optical fiber with a scintillator, a liquid scintillator or a phosphor. SOLUTION: Grooves are horizontally and vertically formed at predetermined intervals on a scintillator plate. Wavelength shift fiber bundles are arranged in the vertical grooves and fluorescent reflectors are embedded in the horizontal grooves. A detection pixel group is composed divided by the horizontal and vertical grooves. Neutron detecting bodies mixed with neutron converters are arranged on a scintillator upper face. Wavelength shift fiber bundles are horizontally arranged in a scintillator bottom face. Fluorescence by neutrons incident on the detection pixel group and fluorescence by neutrons incident on the neutron detecting bodies are detected by the wavelength shift fiber bundles arranged in the grooves and the wavelength shift fiber bundles arranged in the bottom face.
