METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CALIBRATING CAMERA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera lens system calibrating method by which handling work on the spot is reduced. SOLUTION: The calibration of the camera and the lens includes two steps. The 1st step includes a process of specifying the endogenous characteristics of the lens system and generating a computer file including the characteristics. The 1st step is used only once so as to be usable for all opportunities. The 2nd step is used whenever the camera is used with the lens on the spot, and the 2nd step includes a process of calibrating a package provided with the camera and the lens on the spot in order to specify a transfer function between signals from a sensor for detecting the arrangement of the camera and from a sensor for detecting the setting of the lens system and the actual characteristics based on the aforesaid file and a signal obtained by photographing a characteristic point in a displayed scene.
