PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a vehicle height adjustment in a hydraulic shock absorber by facilitating a turning operation of a vehicle height adjusting nut for the vehicle height adjustment while preventing free rotation of a spring seat. SOLUTION: A vehicle height adjuster for a hydraulic shock absorber 10 is so constructed that a detent member 19 is engaged with a locking portion 17 provided on a spring seat 14, and that a base portion 19A of the detent member 19 is held between a vehicle height adjusting nut 12 and a locknut 13. The detent member 19 can be disengaged from the locking portion 17 on the spring seat 14 when the locknut 13 is loosened.
