PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically adjust the zero-point signal of an optical scale. SOLUTION: An index scale is moved for passing a zero-point position provided in a main scale in advance, a zero-point signal is outputted to be A/D converted by a microcomputer 16 for control, the A/D-converted zero-point signal is sampled as a peak voltage S-PEAK, the reference peak voltage P- PEAK is compared with a reference peak voltage R-PEAK set as a reference value for adjustment for calculating the amount of correction, an electronic-type variable resistor 15 is operated for correction, and the peak voltage of the zero-point signal is made to match that of a common level COM.
