PURPOSE: An adapter for charging a battery of a cellular phone is provided to charge the battery of cellular phone by using a power integrated circuit unit whose power consumption is less than 0.5 watt in a waiting mode. CONSTITUTION: A voltage input unit(111) receives an AC(Alternating Current) voltage and boosts and smoothes the AC voltage. A voltage transformer(121) drops the AC voltage outputted from the voltage input unit(111) to a predetermined level. A rectification unit(131) rectifies the AC voltage outputted from the voltage transformer(121) to supply the rectified DC(Direct Current) voltage to a load. An output stabilization unit(141) stabilizes the rectified DC voltage outputted from the rectification unit(131). A feedback unit(151) returns the rectified DC voltage from the rectification unit(131) to a power integrated circuit unit(161). The power integrated circuit unit(161) performs continuously an on-off operation on the AC voltage inputted from the voltage input unit(111) to the voltage transformer(121), in response to the returned DC voltage outputted from the feedback unit(151).
