PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yarn brake and a double yarn twisting spindle having the simple and sure constitution for changing brake force. SOLUTION: A brake cartridge 11 having a substantially tubular brake housing 1 and arranged in the brake housing has first and second tubular parts 12 and 13 telescopically slidable on each other against spring force. The tubular parts have a tail end part for forming a brake surface, and this tail end part is attachably connected to brake rings 4 and 14. A guide pipe 8 coaxially openes in the brake housing 1, and the guide pipe supports a support 5. A yarn inflow pipe 16 extends inside the guide pipe 8, and an inside end part of the yarn inflow pipe supports the brake ring 14.
