PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To interpolate without reducing the sharpness with a comparatively simple configuration by increasing pixels with a low luminance in the respective pixels to be interpolated between both pixels or linearly changing the luminance of each pixel for varying the luminance in the case the difference is small between the adjacent pixels in luminance. SOLUTION: A control part 31 inputs the adjacent pixels G1 and G2 and the number of pixels (n) after interpolating, outputs one being lower in luminance between the pixels G1 and G2 to an a-line and the one being higher to a b-line and outputs a distance (of) from the pixel of the luminance (a). When the luminances (a) and (b) of the pixels G1 and G2, the distance (of) and the luminance of the interpolating pixel f(of) are within the range of 0-1, an arithmetic part 32 and selecting parts 33 and 34 satisfy following formulas by the output of the control part 31. That is, f(of)=a in the case of 0<=of<=1-b, f(of)=of-(1-b)+1 in the case of 1-b<of<1-a and f(of)=a in the case of 1-a<=of<=1. Thus, the picture is expressed with high sharpness. |
