<p>PURPOSE: An apparatus for treating sewage and wastewater using bacteria supporting medium is provided which is capable of performing physical filtration as well as biological purification by putting into a treatment tank a supporting medium adhering and growing the bacteria so as to decompose organic materials or adsorb floating materials in wastewater. CONSTITUTION: In an ordinary sewage and wastewater treatment system comprising a grit chamber, a screen tank and an aeration tank, the apparatus for treating sewage and wastewater comprises a flow equalization tank(4) into which treated water is flown; a treatment tank(5) in which physical filtration as well as biological purification are simultaneously performed by forming vortex in the treated water flown from the flow equalization tank(4), and in which bacterial supporting medium(12) is sufficiently contained; a circulation inlet pipe(10) for flowing water from the flow equalization tank(4) into the treatment tank(5); a circulation discharge pipe(9) for flowing water treated in the treatment tank(5) again into the flow equalization tank(4); and a discharge pipe for discharging the treated water in the treatment tank(5), wherein the treated water flown into the flow equalization tank(4) is purified by being circulated to the treatment tank(5) and the flow equalization tank(4) plural times, and then the purified water is discharged.</p> |
