PURPOSE: A semitransparent reflective type liquid crystal display and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to increase the cell gap of marginal portions of array parts for simplifying the selection of glass fiber added to a sealant and preventing the reject due to the contact between first and second substrates by Cr serving as a black matrix in case of cell cutting. CONSTITUTION: A semitransparent reflective type liquid crystal display includes a first substrate(501) defined with array parts and pad parts, a second substrate(512) facing the first substrate, a first protection film(505) formed on a gate insulation film(503) except marginal portions of the pad parts and the array parts, a transparent electrode(506) formed on the entire surface including the protection film, a second protection film(507) formed on the transparent electrode, and a sealant(508) formed on the second protection film at positions corresponding to the marginal portions of the array parts to be adhered to the second substrate.
