The present invention concerns a ventilated work chamber arrangement of the type where work is performed by inserting hands or tools into the chamber through an opening. The arrangement comprises elements defining the chamber, such as a workbench (2) and, arranged over the workbench, a hood (3) exhibiting the said opening and a rear air exhaust (7) connected to a source of vacuum arranged inside the hood (3). At the top of the opening is arranged an in all events partly transparent screen (9) extending the whole width of the opening and sealing against the hood (3) at the top and sides with an edge (9.1) at the bottom. An air supply (10) is arranged with outlets (10.2) along and outside the screen (9) at a fixed distance from and parallel with the bottom edge (9.1) of the screen and the air supply is connected to a compressed air souce. Along the lower limit of the chamber opening is arranged a front air exhaust (8) connected to a source of vacuum, whereby any heavier-than-air gases emitted in the chamber can be evacuated.
