<p>This invention relates to the regulation of metabolism and in particular to a gene named E4 involved in insulin resitance syndrome. The invention further relates to protein encoded by the gene and to means of regulating their biological activity. In addition the invention relates to the use of the gene and protein to identify therapeutic agents for controlling insulin resistance syndrome and other related disorders such as non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), dyslipidemia, obesity and atherosclerosis.</p> |
