Liquid crystal compositions including one or more 5-(4-(4-alkenylcyclohexyl)cyclohexyl)-1,2,3-trifluorobenzene derivatives are new. Liquid crystal compositions comprise: (a) 5-35 wt.% of one or more 5-(4-(4-alkenylcyclohexyl)cyclohexyl)-1,2,3-trifluorobenzene derivatives of formula (I); (b) 25-95 wt.% of compound(s) of formula (II)-(XI); and (c) 0-40 wt.% of compound(s) of formula (XII)-(XIII). Q = vinyl, trans-1-propenyl or 3-butenyl. R<1>-A-A-B (II) R<1>-A-D-B (III) R<1>-E-D-B (IV) R<1>-A-A-Z-B (V) R<1>-A-D-Z-B (VI) R<1>-E-D-Z-B (VII) R<1>-A-G-B (VIII) R<1>-A-E'-E-A-R<2> (IX) R<1>-A-B (X) R<1>-A-Z-B (XI) R<1>, R<2> = H, 1-15C alkyl, 1-15C alkoxy or 2-15C alkenyl; A = 1,4-cyclohexylene; B = a group of formula (i) ; D = a group of formula (ii); E = 1,4-phenylene; E' = 3-fluoro-1,4-phenylene; G = 1,3-dioxane-5,2-diyl; L<1>-L<4> = H or F; X = F, OCF3, CF3 or OCHF2; and Z = COO, OCF2, CF2O or C2H4.
