A fuel cell system, having a reformer unit (1) for the purpose of generating a reformate, which is provided as fuel for a fuel cell unit (4), having a sensor (5, 6, 7) for the purpose of monitoring the reformate quality, and having a sensor-dependent controllable valve (9, 10), which, in contrast to conventional systems, reacts extremely rapidly to disruptions in the reformate-provision process and in particular prevents corresponding disruptions from causing damage to the fuel cell unit (4) and wherein the electrical output of the fuel cell unit can also be controlled. This is achieved by virtue of the fact that at least one storage unit (11) is provided for the purpose of supplying fuel to the fuel cell unit (4) in a manner dependent upon the quality of the reformate. |
