PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining reproductive cells, intended for detecting the differentiation of reproductive cells from ES cells, sorting and purifying the reproductive cells thus differentiated under culture, and realizing a spermatogenesis from the reproductive cells derived from the ES cells. SOLUTION: This method for obtaining reproductive cells is characterized by comprising the following process: an ES cell strain transferred with a marker gene so as to be put under the control of expressing Vasa gene or a homologous gene thereof is cultured in the presence of a reproductive cell differentiation promotive factor and the cells having the ability to differentiate reproductive cells are sorted with the expression of a marker gene as the indicator.
