PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footrest mechanism for a wheelchair which prevents turning of a foot plate and keeps the height of the plate. SOLUTION: The vertical movement of a conventional plate is utilized as it is and a height-adjusting pin and plural pinholes are provided at a supporting shaft. Thus, the height position of the footplate can be changed only by reinserting the pin. Since a notch is formed at a block, to which the shaft is fitted, so as to restrain the pin, both of the deviation and loosening of the direction of the footplate are prevented. Furthermore, right and left blocks are connected to be restrained so as to be able to rock linked with each other and also the blocks are fixed at an optional position by the combination of a gear and a latch.
