PURPOSE: A device and a method for response to location inquiry of missing vehicles are provided to easily chase the missing vehicles by obtaining location information of the vehicle through GPS(global positioning system) receiver responding to location inquiry signal. CONSTITUTION: A device for response to location inquiry of missing vehicles comprises a GPS receiver(14), a radio transceiver(18), a set-up unit(30) for setting up a proper number and a control unit(32). The GPS receiver receives GPS information from a satellite to generate present location information of the vehicle. The radio transceiver receives location inquiry signal of missing vehicles and transmits location information of the vehicle. The control unit calculates and stores location, time, velocity and direction of the vehicle according to inputted present location information of the vehicle. When location inquiry signal of the missing vehicles is received, vehicle operation information is transmitted to at least one predetermined contact point through the radio transceiver.
