PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back plate for a brake disc pad improving strength of the back plate without depending on a particular material so that a temperature rise of brake fluid can be suppressed without applying an insertion object or the like and method of making this back plate. SOLUTION: This back plate is constituted by providing a large number of hollows of almost spherical shape formed by abutting each other partly to at least one plate surface of flat plate-shaped obverse/reverse, a flat part with an upper end face enveloped by this hollow flush with the plate surface, and a boundary part formed in a part with the fellow hollows adjacent to be lower than the flat part higher than a bottom part of the hollow, in the method of making the back plate, cold working is applied to a plate material by coining, the hollow described in a request item 1 is formed.
