PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in a standby state of an image forming device, without impairing the standby function of a printer controller and the standby function of a printer. SOLUTION: This image forming device with energy saving standby is provided with a printer controller 20 for converting printing information given by a host PCa to output image data to be outputted to the printer PTR, a power source 41a for supplying electrical current to the printer PTR and the controller 20, a switch 34 for tuning on and off a power supply system PS2 from the power source 41a to circuit elements 24 to 30, and 32, which are a part of the controller 20, a detection circuit 31 for detecting the off/on condition changes of a power source of the host PCa, and control means 21 and 33 for turning on the power supply system PS2, according to detection of off/on condition changes by the detecting circuit 31 to set the printer PTR in operation mode. The image forming device with energy-saving standby is further provided with two systems of power sources for the printer PTR, and a solar battery, a secondary battery and an on/off small power source for the energy-saving standby. |
