PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice information processor and a method therefor by which audible monitor sound can be outputted during recording of voice information, when the voice information is recorded at a speed higher than that of usual reproduction of voice information. SOLUTION: The quantity of voice information 206 to be recorded is read from the TOC region of a CD-ROM (step 502). Time m necessary for recording the voice information 206 on the hard disk drive 114 is calculated (step 504). A combination of pieces of music most suitable for reproduction within the time m is selected from the pieces of music in the region 202 of the hard disk drive 114 where the voice information is already recorded (step 506). The voice information is read from the CD-ROM and is recorded on the recording area 204 of the hard disk drive 114, and then the pieces of music selected from the region 202 at the step 506 is sequentially read and reproduced (step 508 through 512).
