The invention relates to a circulating fluidized bed reactor and to a method for controlling the bed temperature. The temperature of the bed in the reactor (6) is controlled by regulating the recirculation speed of some particles collected by a secondary particle separator (22). Some particle storage means (40) dimensioned so as to contain enough material requiered for temperature control, according to the fuel quantity fluctuations or load changes, collect the particles from the secondary particle separator (22). The reactor (6) is also provided with a temperature control system (80) so that the solid storage level be controlled. There are provided some level sensing means (44) on the storage means (40). There is also provided a solid storage level control (81) which interactuates with temperature control system (80).
