PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the oxidation resistance and durability of a relatively inexpensive Ti-containing hydrogen storage alloy in which the absorption and discharge of hydrogen occur at relatively low temperature, and the amount of hydrogen to be absorbed is large without remarkably reducing the amount of hydrogen to be absorbed. SOLUTION: A Ti-Cr-(Mo-Nb-Fe) based hydrogen storage alloy is coated with Cu and Ni in order by electroless plating, mechanical alloying or the like, and heat treatment is performed at 400 to 1,000 deg.C to form an Ni-added layer containing a Ti-Ni intermetallic compound such as TiNi and a Cu- containing layer at the inside thereof on the surface of the alloy. |
