PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a class deciding method capable of an exact class decision even when there are a large number of classes. SOLUTION: This method is provided with a first step for preparing a tree structure, with which the class of feature amount data belonging to the group of each terminal becomes one, by hierarchically grouping the feature amount data provided from each of real targets previously prepared for each of classes and a second step for searching a terminal group closest to the feature amount data provided from an examination target and determining a class corresponding to the searched terminal group as a class of the examination target by successively deciding which one of two branch groups is closer to the feature amount data provided from the examination target successively from the upside hierarchy of the tree structure.
