PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where the problems of deterioration of image quality are solved and images of high image quality can be obtained, even when developer containing spherical toner is utilized, with respect to the image forming apparatus provided with a developing apparatus of a two component developing type. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus provided with a developing apparatus of a two component developing type, a hollow developing roll where a developing device transfers the two component developer carried on a surface of the developing apparatus to a developing position that is opposite to an image carrier, while being rotated and where a multiple number of magnetic poles that have different polarities to each other are installed alternately in the direction of rotation, and a magnet installed inside the developing roll and provided with the magnetic polarity facing the developing position are provided.
