PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device, whose display form in a horizontal or vertical direction can be optionally set through the external setting of parameters, when displaying an input image, with an aspect ratio different from that of a display screen onto the entire display screen. SOLUTION: The image display device having an image input means 100, an image display means 102 that displays an input image, and an image conversion means 101 that converts the input image into an image with an aspect ratio that can be displayed on the image display means, when the aspect ratio of the input image is coincident with the aspect ratio of the image able to be displayed by the image display means, is provided with a parameter setting means 103. The image conversion means is provided with an interpolation coefficient data generating means 111, that uses a setting parameter set by the parameter setting means to generate interpolation coefficient data, corresponding to an optional magnification factor in the horizontal direction or the vertical direction and with an interpolation processing means, that uses the generated interpolation coefficient data to conduct interpolation processing, corresponding to the optional magnification in the horizontal or vertical direction.
