metal cutting equipment for cutting steels and alloys with use of hard-alloy cutting tools, certifying hard-alloy products. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of selecting initial parameter, measuring temperature in contact zone "tool material - worked material" at different cutting speeds while plotting functional diagram; preliminarily heating samples of hard-alloy tools; using as initial parameter (in order to enhance accuracy and to decrease labor consumption) such temperature for preliminary heating of hard-alloy tool that allows to achieve in formed polyoxide semiconductor surface of its film structure the least value of energy gap corresponding to maximum concentration of charge carriers; then according to plotted diagram designating as optimal such cutting speed that provides heating temperature in contact zone corresponding to temperature of preliminary heating of hard-alloy tool.
