PURPOSE: A device for dropping a coated optical fiber ribbon to a core with SZ grooves is provided to eliminate bounding and jumping out of coated fiber ribbons by elasticity and to make a high-speed insertion possible, by rotating respective coated fiber ribbons at a suitable angle around a central axial line and relieving the torsional stresses generated in the respective coated fiber ribbons at the time of dropping the coated fiber ribbons into the SZ grooves of a core. CONSTITUTION: A device for dropping a coated optical fiber ribbon to a core with SZ grooves includes a final butt-strap(8) positioned at an upper stream part of a collection dies(9) to rotate right and left by the serpentine motion of the SZ groove(2), coated fiber nozzles(82) provided rotatably on an inner peripheral part of a butt-strap body(81) of the final butt-strap by a predetermined angle interval and focusing the collection position axially and each formed in the hollow shape with a gear part(82B) on an outer peripheral part, an internally toothed gear plate(83) having an internally toothed gear(83A) engaged with the gear parts of the coated fiber nozzles, a groove detecting plate(10) for detecting a phase displacement of the SZ groove according to the travelling of the core, an angle detector(84) for detecting a rotation direction and rotation angle of the groove detecting plate, and a driving motor(85) rotating the internally toothed gear plate according to a signal of the angle detector.
