<p>A method is provided for treating a product comprising a tyre bead cut from a tyre with remnants of the tyre side wall adhered to the bead. The method comprises:- <SL> <LI>a) reducing the temperature of the product to an extent such as to alter the physical characteristics of the rubber from which the remnants of the tyre side wall are formed, and <LI>b) vibrating the product so as to cause the rubber to separate from the bead. </SL> Also disclosed is a method of removing a reinforcement bead from a pneumatic tyre comprising cutting the bead from the tyre and then subjecting the product to reduced temperatures and vibration. Further disclosed is a tyre bead obtained by the aforementioned method.</p> |
