A friction stay comprises a vent arm 24 movable relative to a fixed component 10 fixed, in use, to a stationary part of a window frame, the vent arm 24 and the fixed component 10 both each having projections 32, 38 which co-operate with one another when the vent arm 24 occupies a closed position to inhibit movement of the vent arm in a longitudinal direction. The projection 38 is located on the vent arm 24 at an end furthest from the pivot axis. The projections 32, 38 may have ramped surfaces 40 to lift the vent arm 24 clear of the frame. The vent arm 24 further carries a projection 44 co-operable with a stop 46, in a closed position. The projection 44 is out of alignment with the fixed component 10 when in the closed position. When in an open position (figure 4) the projection may abut link member (26) to act as a stop. |
