PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional color management system is based on the premise that coloring characteristic data including the correspondence between the pattern area ratio and a printing color of a printing machine used for manufacturing a printing plate is not changed, (i.e., the printing characteristics of the printing machine is not changed), but practically the printing characteristics of the printing machine are changed so that the tone of printed matter is different from a desired color, causing the generation of a paper loss and the need for an operator' skill to adjust the tone. SOLUTION: Data on the coloring characteristics of the printing machine used for manufacturing the printing plate are compared with data on the newest coloring characteristics of the printing machine, the difference is calculated, and the color difference is calculated from the difference and data on the pattern area ratio calculated when the printing plate is manufactured. It is indicated whether the color difference is within tolerance or not, an operator is made to instruct to correct the color difference in the color of the noticed place of the pattern, and the tone is controlled on the basis of the instruction for printing. |
