PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a modified isocyanate compound whereby the solubility in a nonpolar organic solvent or in an odorless solvent is improved and both the viscosity decrease and a sufftcient hardness or dryability are achieved. SOLUTION: This method for producing a modified isocyanate compound having allophanate and isocyanurate bonds, comprises subjecting a monohydric alcohol and an organic polyisocyanate to urethane formation and allophanate formation successively or simultaneously and then to isocyanurate formation and removing the unreacted organic polyisocyanate.
