METHOD FOR PRODUCING BISPHENOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a bisphenol, capable of producing the bisphenol from phenols and a ketone in a high selectivity and a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the bisphenol comprises continuously supplying a fixed bed reactor with a raw material mixture at a space velocity of <=5/hr, wherein the reactor is packed with a sulfonate-type cation exchange resin which is partially modified with a mercaptoalkylpyridines, and the raw material mixture contains the ketone and a stoichiometrically excess amount of the phenols.
