PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body positioning system in an assembly line for performing the necessary minimum positioning with a simple configuration, and a positioning method thereof. SOLUTION: In this vehicle body positioning system in the assembly line L in which at least a vehicle body F must be positioned in the longitudinal direction and/or in the right-and-left direction, the assembly line L comprises at least a first assembly zone IZ for collectively assemble predetermined functions and a second assembly zone UZ which is arranged on the downstream side of the first assembly zone IZ and collectively assembles the predetermined functions different from those in the first assembly zone IZ, and further comprises a first positioning device 1 for performing the positioning in the longitudinal direction or in the right-and-left direction according to the assembly condition in the first assembly zone IZ and a second positioning device 2 for performing the positioning in the direction different from the position direction in the first positioning device 1 according to the assembly condition in the second assembly zone UZ.
