PURPOSE: A method for preparing aceclofenac with high yield and high purity in short reaction time is provided by acid hydrolyzing haloethyl-2-£(2,6-dichlorophenyl)amino|phenyl acetoxy acetate derivatives as an intermediate, in the presence of zinc catalyst. The intermediate is effective as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing aceclofenac represented by formula 1 comprises the steps of reacting diclofenac alkali metal salt represented by formula 2 with haloethyl haloacetate represented by formula 3 to obtain the haloethyl-2-£(2,6-dichlorophenyl)amino|phenyl acetoxyacetate derivatives represented by formula 4; and acid hydrolyzing the intermediate compound of formula 4, in the presence of zinc catalyst. In formulae, M is alkali metal atom; X is halogen atom; R1, R2, and R3 which are the same or different, are hydrogen or halogen atom, except that R1, R2, and R3 are a hydrogen atom.
