PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in view of extending the life-span of brush by increasing the effective length thereof, a construction which can increase distance on the surface to control deterioration of insulation property due to continuation of splash and deposition of brush friction powder within a motor. SOLUTION: This brush type DC motor is provided, particularly to extend the life-span thereof, with a cut-away part of the position opposing to a brush holder at the opening end of a housing. The brush holder is formed so that the end thereof reaches the cylindrical part of housing at the cut-away, effective length of brush inserted into the brush holder can be extended, and a bearing to support a rotor is held with a cover forming the housing and external sheath. Moreover, this DC motor is also provided with a terminal which is electrically connected to the brush inserted and held by the brush holder and is constructed, so that a terminal covering member formed of an insulation material is fitted and deposited to the position exposed within the cover near the bearing of the terminal.
