PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum electrolytic capacitor that has low impedance characteristics, and improved shelf characteristics. SOLUTION: In this aluminum electrolytic capacitor, a combination where phosphate ions are bonded to a water-soluble complex made of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid and aluminum is contained in a capacitor element using cathode foil where a silane coupling agent adheres onto a surface with electrolyte where at least one type of an adipic acid or its salt is dissolved into a solvent with water as a main constituent, thus achieving the low impedance characteristic, maintaining a proper amount of phosphate ions in the electrolyte for a long time, improving the shelf characteristic of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor by inhibiting deterioration in electrode foil after being left on a shelf, and increasing initial capacitance.
