PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method and a controller for an electric rolling stock which enables to obtain braking torque than in the conventional case, when electric braking is conducted, using a main motor having items equivalent to the conventional apparatus. SOLUTION: Problems are solved, by changing the correction for each phase U, V, W winding of the main motor 13 over to star connection, when power running is conducted, and over to delta connections, when electrical braking is performed, and by providing a star-delta change-over switch 14 for changing- over the star connection and delta connection.
