Compostable (biodegradable) thermoplastic polymer compositions (I), obtained by a compounding/extrusion process involving homogeneous mixing of a melt containing flour (biopolymer), plasticizers and other biodegradable thermoplastic polymer components. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a process for the production of biodegradable polymer blends (I) which involves using water as a plasticizer in an endothermic mixing/compounding process; and (b) a process for the production of biodegrading polymer blends (I) by mixing/compounding in the absence of water using an exothermic extrusion process.
