A high-luminance organic EL device employs a particular tetrabenzo[de,hi,op,st]pentacene compound represented by the general formula (1): Wherein R1 to R18 independently represent hydrogen atom, halogen atom, hydroxyl group, amino group, nitro group, cyano group, carboxyl group, alkyl group, alkenyl group, cycloalkyl group, alkoxy group, aromatic hydrocarbon group, aromatic heterocyclic group, aralkyl group, aryloxy group, alkoxycarbonyl group or a derivative thereof; or two of R1 to R18 may form a ring; provided that at least one of R1 to R18 is diarylamino group represented by -NAr1Ar2 where Ar1 and Ar2 independently represent substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms.
