MULTIPLE POINT MEASURING METHOD USING OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of measuring data of distortion or temperature at multiple measurement points in proximity by using an optical fiber. SOLUTION: A coded grating 2 comprising a gathering of plural unit gratings is written on a piece of optical fiber 1 by giving a different code for every measurement point. If a coded incident light pulse enters from one end of the optical fiber 1, a strong reflected light pulse comes back only from the grating 2 having the matching code, and therefore, the distortion or the temperature at the measurement point is measured from its cycle.
