PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint structure between external wall materials capable of more increasing a waterproof function and a joint working method facilitating work execution of the joint structure. SOLUTION: In this joint structure, a backup material 7 is installed on the bottom part 6a of a joint 6 provided between external wall materials 5 and 5 adjacent to each other, and caulking material 11 is filled on the backup material 7. The backup material 7 is formed of a pair of backup material pieces 9 and 9 closely fitted watertight to the end faces 5a and 5a of the external wall materials 5 and 5 opposed to each other, and the backup material pieces 9 and 9 are closely fitted watertight to each other.
