摘要 PURPOSE: An IPS-LCD(In Plane Switching mode Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to obtain a large viewing angle without lowering an aperture ratio and having color shift by optimizing the electrode gap between a common electrode and a pixel electrode. CONSTITUTION: A pixel for constituting a multi-domain is divided into a first area(E) crossing horizontal patterns(121a,119a) of a common electrode and a pixel electrode in parallel to each other, and a second area(F) crossing vertical patterns(121b,119b) of the common electrode and the pixel electrode in parallel to each other. An alignment layer is coated on a substrate having the common electrode and the pixel electrode. Each alignment layer on the first and second areas is rubbed in different directions so that LC molecules in the first and second areas have each symmetrical pre-tilt angle of 45 degrees with the common electrode and the pixel electrode depending on alignment directions(123a,123b) of the alignment layers. The LC molecules vertical to each electrode after power supply are constituted to have different symmetry in the alignment directions in each area. Therefore, the color shift is prevented by correction of color characteristics as well as a large viewing angle.
