PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system and an information storage medium having bulletin board service that a user can continuously enjoy without getting tired and gives amusement. SOLUTION: This system is the information providing system 600 which provides the given bulletin board service for users through terminal devices. When a bulletin board display request is received from a terminal device, the need for writing for direction is judged from the state of writing to a bulletin board message storage area and when it is judged that the writing for direction is necessary, a bulletin board service processing part 116 is included which performs direction writing processing wherein a dummy message for direction is generated and written to the bulletin board message storage area 524.
